It’s my daughter’s birthday today and, hurrah,  the sun is shining. I wrote this poem and my grandchildren ‘set’ it to music – The keyboard and the recorder.

This is a day for looking up

at  the sun in a cloudless sky,

and the moon and stars

in the silence of space,

not a day for wondering why…

the rain has fallen in torrents,

and slugs have trailed their slime…

yes, it’s time to put on our party hats

look up at the sun, see it shine!
